Send us your photos about what it's like to be disabled
Send us your photos about disability
On October 22, 2014,
Northeastern Illinois University will hold an all-day event to explore
what it's like to be disabled. It will include a photo exhibit in the Student Union to document what it means to be a student with a disability at NEIU.
Students are invited to submit photos that
represent the experience of being a person with a disability. Up to 10
photos may be submitted electronically. No hard copies please! Click here to apply.
When
it comes to communicating the human experience, photography is an
extremely powerful tool. Through it we can tell stories and share ideas
about topics that often transcend words.
Photography
is not just a visual experience but rather one that embodies all the
senses: sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste. Famous blind
photographers work to create images for the sighted world because they
want to share what they "see" in their minds.
When
talking about disability, some individuals may have inaccurate ideas of
what it means to live with one. Photography can provide a way to inform
others of the accomplishments and challenges faced by people with
disabilities.
Send your completed application and photos to triosss@neiu.edu
or stop by LIB 412 or call TRIO's main office at 773-442-4971.
