These sessions take place on Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 pm outside LIB 412. The Thursday sessions are recommended for first-time participants. Launch Your Career!!

TRIO students,

NEIU's Career Launch program and TRIO's Career Advising initiative will help you discover and plan for the career you've always wanted, as well as learn how to promote yourself to employers. In collaboration with the Career Development Center, TRiO is offering to help you with a new process career planning.  As a participant in this initiative, you'll be better able to:
·         Get to know your own personal qualities and strengths even better. 
·         Describe how your unique strengths contribute to the workplace.
·         Write better cover letters, resumes, personal statements, and respond concisely to tough interview questions to get the opportunities you want.
·         Discover new career possibilities for yourself and learn of opportunities in the hidden job market.
Career Launch participants will also be eligible to win $200 at the end of the Spring semester.  One individual will be chosen at random by the NEIU Career Development Center.  To participate (and be eligible for the prize) students must:  1) Complete an intake session with a career advisor at the Career Development Center, 2) attend several career-planning sessions with your TRiO advisor to set goals, and 3) Complete a group session and survey at the end of the program.

TRIO Scholarships 
Spring 2015


Engagement Scholarship Program
$500-$1000 to cover unmet NEIU tuition. The funds will cover spring 2015 classes only.

Qualifications
·         Must be a TRIO participant
·         Must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
·         Must have completed the Spring 2015 Student Success Plan (SSP) with a TRIO advisor
·         Must submit the complete scholarship application online and all required materials by February 11, 2015

Application deadline: February 11, 2015 11:45 p.m.

Students who receive the TRIO scholarship must sign an agreement to complete 5 to 10 hours of services assigned by the TRIO office during the spring 2015 term.

NEIU's Career Launch program helps you create the career you've always wanted



TRIO students. It's time to Launch your career!

NEIU's Career Launch program will help you discover and plan for the career you've always wanted, as well as learn how to promote yourself to employers. In collaboration with the Career Development Center, TRIO is offering a new on-line tool to manage your career planning. As a participant, you'll be better able to:

1. Integrate your future goals with your past interests, thread them both together, so can you land the job you want.
2. Respond concisely to tough interview questions.
3. Differentiate your skill set from others and describe how you contribute to the workplace.
4. Find opportunities in the hidden job market.
Career Launch participants will also be eligible to win $200 at the end of the spring semester. One individual will be chosen at random by the NEIU Career Development Center.

To be eligible for the prize and to use this completely new tool, you must fulfill the following:
1. Attend a group meeting to learn the on-line tool. Make use of it as instructed.
2. Complete an intake session with a career advisor at the Career Development Center and at least three career-planning sessions with your TRIO advisor.
3. Complete a survey at the end of the program.

Respond quickly! Enrollment in the Career Launch program is limited in number and available only to juniors, seniors, and grad students.
Completing the Career Launch program will help you create a personalized career statement, and you will develop stronger resumes, cover letters, a LinkedIn profile, interview responses, and personal branding.
