Computer Lab for TRIO Members Now Available!!

Do you have an upcoming writing assignment or research you need to do for a class? An open computer lab for TRIO members is now available in the Library, 4th floor in room LIB 451. 

This is a great opportunity for you to meet other students on campus and to get a lot of work done at the same time.
A sign-in sheet will be available in LIB 451. Be sure to sign in as TRIO member each time you visit the computer lab.

Eldivia Chemistry Success Award Scholarship

Scholarship Program: Eldivia Chemistry Success Award Scholarship

Scholarship program description: Chemistry is integral to skin care. From start to finish, quality skincare needs quality chemists. Are you next to discover the next skin care product? With this in mind we want to provide a scholarship for the chemists of the future. 
So we have created the Eldivia Chemistry Success Award Scholarship in the hope of supporting the industry heroes of the future. In an effort to do our part in the community, we've created a $1,000 scholarship contest to help students follow their dream of a higher education.

Participation Terms

The candidates should submit a video that should be about 2 minutes long and we would like you to touch on a number of areas of becoming a great chemist, including:

●     Key characteristics of a great scientist?

●     What is your favorite part of becoming a chemist?

●     How chemistry advances improve the Skin Care Industry?

●     Who is your inspiration and why?
The submission that is the best will be awarded a scholarship of $1000 that can be used for education.

List of Requirements

1.      All applications must be submitted by December 31, 2018 to: scholarships@eldivia.com

2.      Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident

3.      Applications must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in College, University, Trade School or High School

Lifeguard certification is required.

Campus Recreation is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course May 17--20

Course Rate $300
  • NEIU Students $175 (If you work for Campus Recreation for one full semester you will receive all but $40 back of the cost paid)
Course Date/Time:
May 17 to 20 (Thursday and Friday 5:00-9:00pm-Saturday and Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm)

Pre-requisites:
1- Swim 300 yards without stopping (front crawl--free style, or breast stroke).
2- Tread without hands for 2 minutes.
3- Complete the following in 1 minute 40 seconds (no goggles):
--Enter the water and swim 20 yards, surface dive to retrieve a 10 lb brink in 7 to 10 feet of water
--return to the surface and swim on back with brick 20 yards and get out of water with no assistance

To receive certification you must attend all hours of the course, pass the written test and complete required skills to the satisfaction of the instructor.
