Virtual HACU National Internship Program Informational Sessions
Career Development invites students and recent alumni to learn about the paid internship opportunities available through the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program.
Whether you are seeking an internship with the federal government or in the corporate sector, HACU offers students a variety of opportunities to allow you to graduate with career experience. The internship program is also open to recent alumni who will complete the internship within 12 months of graduating. Attend one of our informational sessions to learn about the types of opportunities available, the application process, and the benefits available to interns. Students and recent alumni from all majors are encouraged to attend.
Given the current situation with COVID-19, it is important to note that in the immediate future it is likely that all of these paid internships will be remote, so there will be no need to physically relocate.
The virtual information sessions will take place via Zoom:
- 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29
- 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1
A recording of the session will be made available on the Career Development website after the event.
For questions or more information, please contact Shannon Sibel at s-sibel@neiu.edu.

NEIU Offers Free Confidential Counseling Services
The Northeastern Illinois University Department of Counselor Education
This is
a free counseling service offered twice a year to the University
and community at large. This opportunity is precious for those who are seeking
growth and wellness for themselves. The serving counselors are highly
effective in helping clients get back on track regarding their relationships,
emotional health, coping behaviors and life quality.
The Personal
Growth and Wellness Center is a training center for advanced graduate students
in NEIU’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, under direct and
live supervision of an experienced faculty member within the Department of
Counselor Education. The serving counselors also receive feedback and
consultation from a Reflecting Team—an embedded training model within the
center.
Space is
limited during this Fall 2020 semester. Sessions take place online due to
COVID-19, either on Zoom, Google Hangouts or other online meeting platforms.
Weekly sessions
begin the week of Oct. 23 and run through the end of November, for a total of
five or six consecutive sessions.
The
counseling services are confidential and free. Sessions are recorded for
training purposes. The recording is encrypted. It then is destroyed after
review.
If you or
someone you know might benefit from this service, please email Dr. Mei Chen
at m-chen@neiu.edu to indicate your
interest. We will follow up with details of how to move forward.
