TRIO SSS Programs Participant Stella Kuwonu Publishes Book

It was forbidden for me to even dream of becoming a writer as a child! In my culture we are often pushed to study science more than social studies. As you can see, I am a rebel! I study political science and become an author. My goal is to make a positive difference in the world with my books.

I want to fight cultural stigmas and open a dialogue about taboo topics. It is so crucial that we speak more openly about mental health, supporting women than just martial accomplishments, and acknowledging the generation gap and actively working to close it.   In each of my charters, I present a fictional person that you have known and also challenge you to think back to a moment you know was important to speak up about.

Even though I'm still fairly new at writing, I know I am motivated to achieve all of my goals. I am learning the curves and enjoying every minute of it. After graduation, I intend to take classes in my community to improve my writing.

This topic is so important to girls all across the globe, so I am already working on my next book. I hope "30ANS" inspires and reminds you to stand up for what is right. I am fighting for girls all around the world.
