Transportation to “Healing Through Spoken Word” at CCICS, March 31

At 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31, the Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (CCICS) will host Chicago poet and activist e nina jay as the featured poet and emcee for their kickoff event of the Hope and Healing Through the Arts Symposium. Please RSVP for workshops and artist talk.

A bus will depart at 5 p.m. from the Nest on the Main Campus for those in need of transportation to and from CCICS. Please sign up for transportation.

jay will perform her poetry and hold space for participants to share their voice in any medium they feel comfortable. Attendees are encouraged to bring their poetry, prose and stories to the event. 

A frontline activist in Chicago’s anti-sexual-violence movement, jay has published three volumes of poetry, "Body of Rooms," "Bricks, Blood & Water," and her latest, “De~stoning: Migrations From the Outpost.” Copies of her books will be available for purchase at the event. Food will be provided.

ANY OPEN HOUSE – Presentations and Telling Your Story

Saturday, March 26, 9:30am CT

Prospective Fellows will start with a short orientation from 9:30am to 10am and then they will attend the workshop alongside current Fellows and Mentor Coaches as they develop an effective and realistic plan for researching, organizing, creating a strong presentation. The workshop is from 10am to 2pm, but prospective Fellows can stay for as long as they are able. See attached for the flyer. Students can register here.
