Congratulations to TRIO SSS Achieve student Maira Marroquin for being selected as a Changemaker Fellow. Following is Maira's description of her experience.

Yes, I'm thrilled to share that I have recently been selected as a Changemaker Fellow for the 2023-2024 term with the Great Lakes FAST Fund Consortium. This Fellowship is organized by Believe in Students and is a unique collaboration between higher education professionals and students. The primary focus of the Fellowship is to address basic needs issues on campuses. As a Changemaker Fellow, I'll be working alongside a team of dedicated professionals and students to create impactful changes within the educational community. This opportunity not only signifies my commitment to fostering positive transformations in the academic realm but also reflects my dedication to creating a supportive environment for all students.

In the upcoming year, I am most excited about maximizing my role as a Changemaker Fellow with the Great Lakes FAST Fund Consortium. My primary goal is to actively collaborate with fellow students and higher education professionals to address the basic needs issues on campuses. I look forward to not only understanding the nuances and challenges faced by our educational community but also to be at the forefront of crafting solutions and strategies. By the end of the year, I aim to have facilitated tangible positive changes and built a stronger, more supportive environment for all students within our institution. Additionally, I hope to further strengthen the community of Changemaker Fellows, ensuring that our impact extends beyond just this year and benefits future cohorts as well.
