Sept. 11 Last Day To Add Class!!
FROM: Daniel Weber, University Registrar
Welcome to the start of the Fall semester. I write regarding important registration and roster verification information.
Registration
Students have been reminded several times that September 11th (NEIU’s census date) is the last day to add a class or to change their registration (with instructor permission). Registration will be not be permitted after September 11th. Another reminder will be sent to students in advance of the registration deadline.
It is critically important that students are registered for all of their classes by September 11th. Getting students registered by Sept. 11th will ensure that students have access to course content through D2L, appear Starfish (the new early alert system), and are counted in the University’s census numbers.
If a student does not appear on your class roster in NEIUport, the student is not registered. Your assistance is needed to remind these students to register. Please send them to the Registration Office in Enrollment Services (D-101) so that we may assist them.
Roster Verification
I also want to inform you that the Roster Verification process will open on September 12th. Knowing whether students are attending your class(es) remains critically important for the University to meet its federal financial aid requirements. Please complete the class roster verification process when it opens in approximately two weeks. A separate email with more details will be sent on September 12th.
If you have questions that the Registration Office staff or I can answer, please contact us at registration@neiu.edu or (773) 442-4040.

The Change of Registration (Add/Drop) Period for Fall 2017
The Change of Registration (Add/Drop) period has started and continues through September 11. If you are attempting to register for a class that is closed or requires authorization, follow the instructions below.
Registration Authorization Process for Closed Classes or Classes Requiring Authorization
1. Contact the faculty member who is teaching the course to determine if you will be permitted to register for the course.
2. If the faculty member agrees to allow you to register, he/she will provide you additional information on how the registration authorization process is handled for that program.
3. Once the registration authorization is added to the computer system, it will appear under “Registration Status” link in the Registration Tools channel in NEIUport.
4. You need to register yourself for the class once the registration authorization appears in NEIUport.
5. Review your registration on the Student Detail Schedule in NEIUport to confirm that you are now registered for all of your classes.
A reminder: The last day to register for Fall classes is September 11. Registration will not be permitted after September 11.

Fall 2017 Diversity Community Internship, Volunteer and Career Fair
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Fall 2017 Diversity Community Internship, Volunteer and Career Fair on Tuesday, October 24, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm in Alumni Hall.
The primary purpose of this career fair is provide an opportunity for students to learn about internships, part-time jobs, and volunteer experiences to help them explore and prepare for future careers. The program will also provide students exposure to organizations and businesses close to the Bryn Mawr campus and in the area and to full time career opportunities.
We also hope that faculty will take advantage of the opportunity to stop by and learn about non-profits and businesses that would be good matches as placement sites for internships, practicums and other applied learning/service learning experiences relevant to their academic programs.

Financial Aid Team Looks Forward To Seeing You On Campus!!
As the countdown to the fall semester proceeds, the Financial Aid Office wants to share ‘next steps’ with you after viewing award information on NEIUport in the ‘Financial Aid Awards’ channel.
• View the ‘Financial Aid Requirements’ channel for any outstanding requirements (red flags) such as entrance loan counseling or Title IV Authorization.
• View authorized aid against your University balance in either the ‘My Account’ or ‘My Statement’ channel to determine whether you have a 'credit balance' or surplus amount of financial aid after tuition and fees are covered.
• If you have a ‘credit balance’ you are eligible to purchase books and supplies (including technology items) from the University Bookstore (Follett) through the book voucher program beginning August 14. Purchases can be made online ('Registration Tools' channel) or in person.
• If you wish to update your Federal Work Study or Federal Direct Loan offer statuses to ‘accept’, ‘reduce’ or ‘decline’ visit the Student Employment Office prior to the start of fall classes.
• If you signed a lease with The Nest subtract the amount of your credit balance or surplus from the fall portion of your lease – the fall portion will either be $4,212 or $5,298 – to determine whether you need to enter a payment plan, borrow through the Federal Direct Loan Program, Parent PLUS Program or private loans.
• If you applied for August graduation be sure to complete your online exit loan counseling session at https://studentloans.gov so that there is no delay in receiving your academic transcript or diploma.
Are you ready now for Fall to begin? If you have questions or need additional information call the Financial Aid Office Telephone Center at 773-442-5016 or visit the Financial Aid Office at D-200.
NEIU’s Financial Aid team looks forward to seeing you on campus soon! Remember, if you have not completed your FAFSA for the upcoming Fall semester, do so today at www.fafsa.gov.
