Resident Assistant Applications for 2021-22 Academic Year Now Open

Hello,

 

The Resident Assistant (RA) applications for the 2021-2022 academic year are now open.

 

Requirements:

·         Minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA (must provide all transcripts)

·         Must be enrolled at NEIU in at least 12 academic hours

·         Must be in good academic and judicial standing

 

Timeline:

1.       Application Opens - March 8, 2021

2.       Application Closes – March, 30, 2021

3.       Candidate Presentation Due – 7 days after application submission

4.       Individual Interviews – April 6-9, 2021

5.       Offer letters sent – April 14, 2021

6.       First day of work – July, 12, 2021

Student Counseling Services Offers Array Of Support

Student Counseling Services has provided some tips for helping individuals manage anxiety and worry they may be feeling, and listed some important resources. Finding some quick ways to de-stress makes it easier to incorporate self-care into everyday life. Student Counseling Services recommends the following articles for tips on how to quickly wind down whenever and wherever you need:

Students are welcome to contact Student Counseling Services to set up an appointment to talk either by phone or their online platform for teletherapy. To access NEIU’s Student Counseling Services, call (773) 442-4650 or send an email to counsect@neiu.edu between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours, students may also reach a counselor for more urgent consultation by calling the main number and pressing “2” during the outgoing message.

Student Food Pantry Expands Services

The Student Food Pantry has a new partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and will now be able to offer fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to canned and other non-perishable items. Due to COVID-19 regulations, the Student Food Pantry will continue its online ordering service through a new system and steps to complete orders are available on the Student Pantry website. Hours of operation are 1-4 p.m. Monday and Thursday. For questions, please contact Chris Maxwell at c-maxwell2@neiu.edu.

TRIO SSS Programs are seeking presenters for our Spring 2021 TRIO SSS Programs Leading and Learning Week, which will take place virtually via Zoom from Monday, April 5 to Friday, April 9. 

 

The program theme is "Thriving in a World that is Continuously Changing."

 

We would love for you to present at our event and encourage you to share this information with your colleagues who may be interested in presenting.

NEIU Student Counseling Services Offers Teletherapy

Counselors at Student Counseling Services are available to meet with students for teletherapy. Services are free of charge and confidential, and are available to all currently enrolled students. Counselors can help with a range of concerns, including stress and adjustment issues related to the pandemic, family and relationship issues, and anxiety/depression.

  • To schedule an appointment, please call (773) 442-4650 and leave a message with your NEIU email and student ID number. You can also request an appointment by sending us an email at counsect@neiu.edu. We will respond to voicemail 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For urgent phone calls, you can reach a counselor for emergency consultation by pressing "2" per the outgoing message.

  • For additional resources, we have a Main Campus brochure listing resources on the North Side, a CCICS brochure listing resources on the South Side, and a list of other resources for some additional social services in the Albany Park neighborhood.

Say Hello To Stacy, Newest Member Of The TRIO SSS Advising Team

Over the past seven years, Stacy has worked at NEIU in admissions, advising in the College of Business and coaching science, math and psychology students. She completed her BS degree in integrative biology with a minor in Spanish at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is also a graduate student at NEIU in the department of Geography & Environmental Studies. She is excited to bring her experience to help TRIO SSS Achieve students reach their goals. Stacy is her preferred nickname, so don't get confused if you sometimes see her listed by her first name, Irene. Both are correct :)

NEST Resident Assistant Applications Now Being Accepted For 2021-22 Academic Year

Hello,

We are gearing up to open our Resident Assistant (RA) applications for the 2021-2022 academic year at the Nest. We highly encourage NEIU students interested in applying to attend one of our three info sessions. These info sessions will go over the role and eligibility requirements. Interested students who attend will be able to ask current RAs about their experience in the role.

The info sessions will be held on the following days and times.

·         Monday, March 1  2:00-3:00 pm

·         Wednesday, March 3  9:00-10:00 am

·         Friday, March 5  7:00-8:00 pm 

If students are unable to attend any of the three information sessions listed, they can meet with meet with me 1-to-1 to discuss the role or they can email me at uokekeewo@americancampus.com to set up a time for us to connect. The applications will open up on Monday March 8. I will follow up with additional information on the application process closer to March 8.
