TRIO Student Support Services at Northeastern Illinois University provides academic support to first-generation and income-qualifying students and to students with disabilities. Services include academic advisement, financial aid and scholarship guidance, tutoring and mentoring, personal and leadership development seminars, study strategies, and other activities aimed at helping students obtain a college degree.

Lake & River Architecture Boat Tour A Hit With Students
The Lake & River Architecture Boat Tour on Friday, August 9 was a big hit with students. The day began with lunch at Giordano's downtown, followed by a Wendella Lake & River Boat Tour. TRIO SSS Teacher Prep participant Stephanie Uriostegui returned to school after a four-year absence then proceeded not only to rejoin TRIO Student Support Services she also won a STAR scholarship. She looks forward to a successful semester while she holds down a full-time job.

TRIO SSS Welcomes Adriana Castillo, New Academic Advisor For The Access Program
Adriana holds a Masters in Urban Higher Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago and she is eager to make a positive impact in the field of education.
Drawing from personal experience as a first-generation college student from a PELL-eligible background, Adriana brings a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by students navigating higher education. As a former financial aid counselor and student high-impact practice coordinator, she aims to foster opportunities that enrich students' academic and professional journeys.
