COVID-19 Resources Webpage

Knowing that many students and their family members have been furloughed or laid off as a result of COVID-19, Career Development has created a COVID-19 Job Resources webpage to help students navigate a difficult economic time. While everyone who can stay at home should stay at home, we know that many must bring in an income regardless.
This webpage includes:
  • Links to companies and organizations that are eager to fill positions due to the increased demand for a number of essential services from the COVID-19 outbreak. There are some great opportunities in retail, social services, video communications and online services.
  • NEIU Alumni Association micro-internships. These short-term paid internships help build professional networks while also providing modest income during a challenging time.
  • Tips and resources for looking for full-time professional positions and internships given the economic slowdown as a result of COVID-19.
  • Guidance on applying for unemployment insurance, including information on the emergency rules that have been developed in Illinois to try to make the unemployment insurance system as responsive to the current situation as possible.
We will update this webpage with new information as we continue to be contacted by companies looking to fill positions.

Students and alumni with questions or who would like further assistance are encouraged to reach out to Career Development staff. Though we are currently working remotely, we are committed to supporting our students and alumni during these challenging times.

If you would like to talk with a Career Development staff member or schedule a remote appointment, please call our main number at (773) 442-4680. Please also feel free to reach out to us via ocs@neiu.edu with your request.
For questions, please contact Kris Pierre at k-pierre@neiu.edu
