BLACK History Month Film Series
The Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (CCICS) is hosting a Black History Month Film Series, courtesy of the Great Black Music Project.
These films are all about music! All films will be shown every Wednesday this month, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at CCICS, in Donn F. Bailey Legacy Hall. Admission is free.

THUNDERSOUL
Alumni from Houston’s storied Kashmere High School Stage Band return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for their beloved band leader who turned the struggling jazz band into a world-class funk powerhouse in the early 1970s.

DINGO
This film traces the pilgrimage of John Anderson, an average guy with a passion for jazz, from his home in outback Western Australia to the jazz clubs of Paris.

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG
Louis Armstrong grew up poor in a single-parent household. He was 13 when he celebrated the New Year by running out on the street and firing a pistol that belonged to the current man in his mother’s life. At the Colored Waifs Home for Boys, he learned to play the bugle and the clarinet and joined the home’s brass band.
Again, all films will be shown every Wednesday this month, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at CCICS, in Donn F. Bailey Legacy Hall. Admission is free. See you there!

In an effort to encourage degree seeking students to complete the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA early and AHEAD of the priority file date of March 1. The Goal for FAFSA completion - Sunday, February 24, 2013. Northeastern Illinois University joins 93 other sites in the State of Illinois in this outreach effort to help families and students navigate the steps of the financial aid process. We offer:

The unpaid internships are available at many of the over 265 U.S. embassies, consulates and missions to international organizations around the world, as well as at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and other locations throughout the U.S. Participants gain first-hand, hands-on experience, and learn the realities of working in – and with – Foreign and Civil Service professionals who are at the forefront of America’s diplomatic efforts.
As an unpaid intern, you may have the opportunity to:
* Applicants who are selected for a U.S. Department of State Student Internship Program (unpaid) can contact the selecting bureau, or the central Student Programs office, if they require further details about the program to support their request for academic credit.
