Paid Internships Summer 2020 At National Wildlife Refuges


Friends and Partners,

The US Fish and Wildlife Service will again rely on the Student Conservation Association (SCA) to recruit approximately 30 students from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds for paid internships during the summer of 2020.

Interns will attend a week-long orientation at the National Conservation Training Center followed by 12 weeks of experiential learning at national wildlife refuges across the US - from Alaska to the Southwest, Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast.  Areas of focus will include visitor services, biology, refuge management and more.

SCSE Summer Research-Professional Training Program


The application period is now open for the 2020 Student Center for Science Engagement (SCSE) Summer Research and Professional Training Program!

The Summer Research and Training Program (currently in its 12th year) provides students with declared majors or minors in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology with the opportunity to work closely with NEIU faculty on a 5- or 10-week research experience that takes place during the summer. The Program also includes weekly professional development and training for the students in the form of workshops. An annual symposium is held in the fall where students have the opportunity to present their work. Depending on the availability of funds, students are also eligible for support to attend a national or regional conference. Student Stipends are $3000 for a 10-week program and $1500 for a 5-week program.

TRIO SSS Leading & Learning Week Set For March 2-6, 2020

Leading and Learning Week is a five-day academic and professional development opportunity coordinated by TRIO Student Support Services with presentations and workshops facilitated by NEIU faculty, staff, students, and supporters. It is an opportunity for students, staff, faculty and community members to share knowledge that enhances student success in higher education and in life. 

All workshops are FREE and open to TRIO SSS members and non-TRIO members. 

TRIO SSS members are encouraged to attend as many workshops and events as possible during this week. NOTE: Members must attend at least ONE workshop every semester and ONE financial literacy workshop every year. 

Presentations will run daily Monday through Friday, March 2-6, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

All presentations will take place on the 4th floor of Ronald Williams Library in LIB 412.
