SPRING 2020 COBM Scholarship Opportunity

The Mossadegh Scholarship in the College of Business & Management

Deadline, Thursday, March 12.

The biannual Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh Servant Leadership Fund Scholarship now

accepts applications to grant THREE $1,000 scholarships in Spring 2020.

To qualify applicant MUST:

1. Complete scholarship application form

2. Submit a 3-page minimum essay on one of the following topics: 

          a. The history and legacy of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh (MUST write on a

different servant leader if awarded this scholarship before; cannot resubmit material

from previous applications)

          b. The significance of servant leadership, or

          c. The history and legacy of another servant leader.

3.  submit two letters of recommendation (one from current professor)

4.  submit a copy of unofficial transcript and in case of first semester transfer

students submit a copy of transfer transcript.

Open Discussions For Male-Identifying Individuals

A men's discussion series is happening this semester at NEIU. This effort is a collaboration between Student Affairs, Pedroso Center, and students themselves all in conjunction with support from the Dept. of Justice grant for sexual assault prevention and education. The series is called "Barbershop Talk" and the focus is to drive discussion on topics related to the male experience. The following flyer includes the dates for the series and details.

This series is geared toward male-identifying individuals in our community. On March 26th, the discussion will be on "Masculinity in sports" and April 28th it will be "Masculinity and Health".

Anyone in the NEIU community may attend the events and participate in the series. Student, staff, or faculty alike across all genders and gender expressions. However, the content is male-centered and the discussion will be focused around the male-identity.

Annually, the EOA Foundation provides multiple scholarship opportunities for students that participate in a TRIO and/or educational opportunity program within the 10 state region. Recipients are recognized for their academic achievements, involvement in their community and/or their ability to articulate how TRIO/EOP has played a role in their lives. Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant: Apply By 3/6/20

Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant has four positions available for the 2020 Summer Internship Program. Successful applicants will work closely with IISG staff on issues affecting the Great Lakes. These paid internships can include research, communications and outreach components. Applicants may also have the opportunity to participate in activities outside of their specific internship duties. 

Internships are available in the following areas:

·         Great Lakes Communications

·         Great Lakes Revitalization

·         Sustainable Communities

·         Water Pricing

Application packets are due on March 6, 2020. Interns will be paid $15 per hour. Interns through Purdue University will work up to 37.5 hours per week for 12 weeks. Interns through University of Illinois will work up to 37.5 hours for 10 and no more than 28 hours for 2 additional weeks.

Applicants can be enrolled in or recently graduated from any U.S. institution of higher learning, and chosen interns will be paid as student employees of Purdue University or University of Illinois. Some travel and/or weekend work may be expected. Interns are responsible for the cost of housing plus transportation to and from their work place. Work-related travel will be funded by the intern’s Sea Grant supervisor. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by the end of March. Internships are expected to start in May and will end in August.
