The 2013-2014 ‘Tip Off’ Financial Aid Town Halls
2013-2014 Financial Aid Theme: RISE to the Occasion
Everyone gets excited about the ‘Tip Off’- fans arrive early to avoid the long lines and watch the opposing team practice jump shots. The NEIU Financial Aid Office invites you to a ‘Tip Off’ of the 2013-2014 Financial Aid process. Not much is expected to change by way of financial aid programs—even with the sequester. Actually there is an increase in the maximum annual award for Federal Pell Grant from $5,550 to $5,645. However, change does take place with the verification process!
Beginning 2013-2014 the U.S. Department of Education will identify students for verification by using five categories. In other words, not all students selected for verification will need to submit the same verification documents. How will this work out? We need you at the Town Hall! Some other topics for the Town Hall include the impact of withdrawals—not only on your financial aid—but on your academic transcript. The academic transcript is not only reviewed by the University Registrar, but also by future employers. You want your academic transcript to reflect who you are at your best. Withdrawals—whether ‘official’ or ‘unofficial’ can also affect your credit if financial aid funds need to be returned and the prior balance goes into collection activity. We need you at the Town Hall!
We have two opportunities for you to attend a Financial Aid Town Hall—we need to see you!
Wednesday, April 3, 1:00pm—Student Union Room 103 (Golden Eagles)
