TRIO Student Support Services at Northeastern Illinois University provides academic support to first-generation and income-qualifying students and to students with disabilities. Services include academic advisement, financial aid and scholarship guidance, tutoring and mentoring, personal and leadership development seminars, study strategies, and other activities aimed at helping students obtain a college degree.

2025 Fred Hampton Scholarship |
In honor of Fred Hampton, the late activist, organizer and Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, Northeastern Illinois University has established the Fred Hampton Scholarship. The Fred Hampton Scholarship will award a student $1,000 to assist with costs associated with attending Northeastern, including tuition, books and fees. Once the application submission period closes, the scholarship recipient will be selected and notified. The $1,000 award will be applied to the recipient’s account at the start of the Fall 2025 semester. The deadline to apply for the Fred Hampton Scholarship is Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CST.
