Advising guidelines for math development students/math students
- This handout shows the various math course pathways students can take depending on their major.
- Please note that education majors, business majors, and STEM majors should NOT take Math 097 or Math 101A/B.
- Math 097
- Math 097 is Mathematical Literacy for College Students.
- Math 097 replaces the Math 091/092 sequence for students who aim to take Math 112 or 113.
- Students that successfully complete Math 090, or place into Math 091 OR Math 092 can register for Math 097.
- After a student completes Math 097 they can take Math 112 or Math 113.
- Only students that aim to take Math 112 or Math 113 should take Math 097.
- Math 101A and Math 101B
- Math 101A and 101B is a stretch course offered at El Centro.
- Math 101A and 101B are Basic Mathematical Reasoning 1 and 2, respectively.
- Together Math 101A and 101B satisfy the Math 113 requirement.
- Students that successfully complete Math 090, or place into Math 091 OR Math 092 can register for Math 101A.
- Only students that aim to satisfy the Math 113 requirement should take Math 101A and Math 101B.
