Take Advantage of The Learning Success Center

The Learning Success Center (LSC) welcomes you to the Spring 2018 semester. We'd like to share with you information about the LSC's new initiatives and its hours of operation for Spring 2018.

This semester the LSC Writing Pod has become the Reading and Writing Pod, as the writing tutors are now trained to provide students with reading support. In addition, we now have a "Tech Tutor," who can help students with their technology needs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google Drive and citation formatting.

The LSC is open seven days a week this Spring semester. Our hours are as follows:

Fri: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Sun: 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (math and writing)

El CentroTue: 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. (writing), 2:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. (math)
Wed: 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. (writing), 1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. (math)
Sat: 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (writing), 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (math)

Lastly, the LSC would like to offer the following suggestions:

• Students should use the LSC on a regular basis, rather than for one assignment. Faculty are notified of student visits to the LSC in a batch email on Saturday mornings.
• We encourage General Education faculty to allow their discipline's tutor to be added to their D2L courses so they have access to the syllabus and assignment sheets. This will also enhance the ability of our tutors to communicate with students about organizing their review sessions for the courses. We also encourage faculty to invite the tutor to a departmental meeting to keep the tutor informed of the support needed in General Education classes.
• We invite all faculty to hold an office hour during the time their discipline’s tutor is scheduled in the LSC.
• We also invite faculty and staff to use the Workshop Request Form on our website, which has a large selection of workshop topics to choose from. Upon placing the request, a staff member from the LSC will respond within 24 hours.
