Tell Your MAP Story Today!!

Reach out to your state senator and representative to tell them you MAP story. Advocate for your concerns!

The university community encourages you to take a few minutes this week to reach out to your individual state senators and representatives to tell your own MAP story on video using your cell phone.

Before you film the video to send to your legislator, take some time to think about what you want to say. If you are a MAP recipient, be sure to say so in your video. Let them know how lack of MAP funding has affected you. If you do not receive MAP funding, mention how Northeastern is feeling the effects of lack of MAP funding or share how this has impacted your friends who receive MAP. Regardless of whether you receive MAP or not, talk about why #MAPMatters and why it’s important that they #FundOurFuture.

If you would like additional help in how to tell your story via video, check out this tip sheet. Please be sure to keep your video short and sweet. Aim for less than 90 seconds.

Once you have your video, you should send it to your legislator via e-mail. You can find their e-mail online by following these instructions.

To maximize the impact of these videos, we encourage you to send them to your state senator and representative this week. Once you have sent your video, be sure to share it on Facebook and Twitter using #MAPMatters and #FundOurFuture.

If you aren’t comfortable in telling your story via video, that’s OK. We would encourage you then to share your story in an e-mail or letter to your legislators.

Keep in mind – you are the future of Illinois. Be sure to take a few minutes in the next few days to tell your story of why #MAPMatters!
