Want To Work Overseas? Peace Corps Visiting NEIU Feb 6 & 7

The Peace Corps is planning a Spring visit to Northeastern on Thursday, February 6th ( 9:00- 12:30 p.m.)-  Friday, February 7th (9:00- 6:00 p.m.).

The purpose of this visit is to:

-          Strengthen Peace Corps’ relationship with the Northeastern Illinois University, specifically with professors who are interested in sharing college to career resources to their students, and
-          Share Peace Corps opening positions for, but not limited to December and May graduates

Peace Corps offers post-graduate opportunities for interested parties willing to work overseas for 27-months expanding on their collegiate experience and building professional development skills that are transferrable in the corporate, federal government, private and public sectors.

We have openings that offer opportunities compatible to a multitude of degrees and majors along with great benefits, including full medical and dental coverage and graduate school assistantships.
My strategy in connecting is to have a brief meetings with professors and/or Department Chairs to share who we are as an agency and the resources we have to support Northeastern’s graduating students in the work force on a global platform. My goal is to engage with professors who will be willing to host me for informational sessions, class talks and/or collaborate on facilitating subject specific forums. From here an invitation will be extended to all students to connect with me in either small groups or 1:1 on campus to review resumes and identify a Peace Corps opening suitable to their skills and passion. An idea of a campus –wide engagement- in the spirit of Black History Month, I can facilitate a "Being Black and Abroad" forum, sharing the benefits of Peace Corps service. All I would need a faculty member willing to support the event by assisting with securing a room with A/V connections, sharing and encouraging students to attend as well as getting the word out to other departments on campus.

If you are interested or may know of a faculty that would be interested, please reply-all and share how and when I can be of service. As always, I want maximize my time on campus and share resources beneficial to the growth of Northeastern Illinois’ students. If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

I look forward to seeing you all soon,
